Marie Scarles is a writer and movement worker in Brooklyn, New York. She is the digital organizer at NY Renews, a coalition of 300+ environmental justice, faith, labor, and community groups fighting for climate justice in New York State. Previously, she taught critical and creative writing for undergraduates at Rutgers University–Camden and worked as the communications and media specialist for the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union, where she was a proud member.

Marie received a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA in creative writing from Rutgers–Camden. Her essays and poems can be found in Los Angeles Review of Books, The Believer, Entropy, The Rumpus, Prolit, Bomb Cyclone, and elsewhere.
